Elevator buttons in Reno |
Okay, so we were in the parking garage in Reno, and we needed to run back to our car to grab the camera that we’d forgotten. The skywalk to the casino was on the third floor, and our car was on the fifth floor. When we got to the elevators, a group of about 8 people were standing there waiting for the elevator. The down button was lit. As we arrived, the elevator came. The group looked up, saw the elevator was going down, and stood back to wait for one going up. I was a bit confused - was the up button’s light out? I had to try it for myself….and, no, they had simply never pressed it. They were just waiting for an elevator without pressing the button. Since the group was large, we let them go in the elevator I’d called for them, and waited for the next one. When the doors opened, there were 5 or 6 people already on it. I looked at the buttons inside, but again none were lit. Again I wondered if a light was out. I pushed 5, and the elevator began to ascend. A lady in the back said, “Oh, we’re going up? Tom, push the 1.” So, again, these people had gotten onto an elevator and not pushed any buttons at all. And that’s why we took a picture of the elevator buttons in the El Dorado casino parking garage. So we would remember this story.
